  1. noun; a 12 membered boy group that debuted April 8, 2012 under SM Entertainment. The group gained attention before their official debut due in part to the high number of teasers released for the members. The group’s concept is rather unique, with the 12 members being divided into two separate sub-groups that will promote in Korea and China simultaneously with the same song. The fandom itself, especially the international one, is notable for having been involved in conflicts with other SM fandoms—specifically E.L.F and Cassiopeia.

  1. noun; a boygroup that debuted on April 16, 2008 under JYP Entertainment as the second of two sub-groups of the larger One Day (the other being 2AM). Originally 7 members, the group’s eldest member and leader Jaebum abruptly left the group following a scandal surrounding comments he’d made on the internet several years before.  Currently they are active as a 6-member group sans a leader. The group is known for their acrobatic tricks during their performances. Their fanclub name is HOTTEST and their fan color is Metallic Grey.

  1. noun; a 7 membered boy group that debuted June 9, 2010 under Woolim Entertainment. They are notable not only for having debuted under an Indie label as it’s first idol group (and therefore receiving guidance from Epik High), but also for their highly synchronized dancing. Their official fan club is named Inspirit with no official color being announced as of yet.

  1. noun; an annual concert founded in 1996 and featuring a line-up of the years most popular and influential KPop acts. In recent years it has been a source of discontent among the various fan clubs due to unhappiness with allocation of sections, too many tickets being given out for the amount of available seats, or internal issues between the fan clubs (such as with 2008’s concert). The event is free for all domestic fans.

  1. noun; the official Korean fanclub for TVXQ, named such because tracing the letters TVfXQ on a QWERTY keyboard creates the Cassiopeia constellation. Their official fan color is Pearl Red. Cassiopeia gained notoriety twice in 2008; once for participating in the CARTEL for Dream Concert and again for being awarded the Guinness World Record for Largest Fan Club with 800,000 official members (in the Korean branch only). Their Japanese equivalent is named Bigeast.

  1. noun; the official fan club for Big Bang, named as such after a track on the group’s second single and having the meaning of “Very Important Person.” Though they have no officially assigned fan color, they are often seen using either yellow crown lightsticks (for arena/night performances) or various styles of bandanas (in lieu of balloons, for outside/day performances). Recently, the fan club has gained attention for being nominated (along with Big Bang) in the “Best Fan” category of MTV Italy TRL Awards 2012.
